Walker is usually made of aluminium alloy. It is a triangular metal frame (front and left and right sides). It is light enough to protect patients, some with casters. Walkers can support the body weight easily to stand or walk, and their supporting area is large, so the stability is good.
There are mainly the following types of walking aids on the market:
1. Fixed type
Usually used to reduce the load of one lower limb, such as limb injuries or fractures are not allowed to bear weight, at this time, both hands lift the two sides of the handrails at the same time put forward on the ground instead of a foot, and then step on the legs.
2. Interactive
Small size, no wheelfoot, adjustable height. When in use, move one side forward first, then move the remaining side forward, so move back and forth alternately. It is suitable for the patients or the elderly with poor standing balance and lower limb muscle strength. Its advantage is that it is also convenient to use the toilet.
3. Wheel shape in front
For those with poor upper limb muscle strength and difficulty in lifting the walker on one side or the whole, when the front wheel touches the ground, the back foot of the lifting walker can be pushed forward to walk.
4. Carriage for the Elderly
Unlike the three above, the car has four wheels, which make it easy to move; instead of handgripping, it moves forward with its forearm flat on the washer. This car is suitable for the elderly who can not walk steadily, but when using it, we should pay attention to keeping the body perpendicular to the ground, otherwise it is easy to slip.
5. Axillary Support Walker
Walking with two axillae to support body weight, four casters, large size, for those with poor upper limb muscle strength.
