1. Types of crutches

Generally speaking, if the physical condition of the elderly is not too bad, it is enough to choose one-footed crutches; if the elderly have poor balance ability, or have a history of stroke, arthritis or leg injury, poor support and other conditions, try to choose multi-footed, in order to enhance the support of the body. Although the triangle structure itself is stable and firm, it is easy to tilt and tilt toward 120 degrees, which affects the straight line of walking and body balance. The tilt angle of the quadrangular structure is 90 degrees. It is very convenient to move the crutches around and around, and it is not difficult to drag the crutches.

2. Length of crutches

The crutches of suitable length can make the old people walk more comfortably and safely, and can also make the arms, shoulders and back fully exercised. Measure the correct length of crutches: wear flat shoes on the flat ground, stand straight, hands naturally droop, take the upright posture, elbow should be 20 degrees of bending, and then measure the wrist skin cross-striation to the ground distance. This size, the ideal length of crutches, can better maintain body balance. Generally speaking, the height of crutches used by the elderly should not exceed their waist when they are lifted.

3. The bottom of the crutch

The bottom of the crutch must have a cushion to prevent skidding. The rubber at the bottom has a great friction with the ground, so it can keep the crutch from skidding when it lands on the ground. Older people should always check the base of crutches to ensure that they are not loose or flattened. If problems are found, they should be adjusted in time to avoid accidents.

4. Handles of crutches

The handle of the crutch should be held comfortably to ensure that the elderly can use their strength at any time. Hands should be longer than the width of the palm, which will save more effort. If the hand is too long, it will be uncomfortable to hold the wrist too high, and even more unsuitable for long-term use. When the elderly stand upright, hold the crutch and balance with the leg, the arm and crutch as far as possible 30 degrees angle.
